Barbara (Jones) Scott, 95, of Bristol, widow of the love of her life, James “Jim” J. Scott, passed away at Bristol Hospital on February 11, 2021. Born on January 25, 1926 in Montpelier, VT, she was a daughter of the late Dudley and Mary (Baldwin) Jones. She was a lifelong member of Prospect United Methodist Church. In her early years, she worked at Veeder Root where she met her husband Jim. They were married on April 6, 1946. On their 15th wedding anniversary, their daughter Kathy was born. Barbara was always the life of the party with her quick wit and sense of humor. Her quick wit made everyone smile. Everyone loved her and wanted to be around her. She loved to have fun. Barbara was outspoken and was known for always saying exactly what was on her mind without hesitation. She was a great baker and would always be trying new recipes in her kitchen to share with her family and friends. Her family meant the world to her and she treasured each and every moment spent with them. She loved to play bingo and take trips to the casino. In January, she celebrated her 95th birthday with a drive-by celebration that she talked about each and every day as she was so happy to see everyone that came by to surprise her. We are thankful for this birthday celebration that she was able to enjoy. How fortunate we have all been to have had her for 95 wonderful years. Barbara lived her life with grace and style, always standing true to what she believed in. She was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone who needed it. She embraced each day and lived her life to the fullest. We are now left with a huge void in our lives without her but are so blessed that we had her for all of the remarkable years that we did. Barbara leaves behind her only child, Kathy Scott, who was her best friend, confidant, and “partner-in-crime”. Kathy and Barbara were inseparable after Jim’s passing in 2001. The two shared a bond that was very special and were truly blessed to have each other to share life’s journey together. Barbara also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends that she treasured. Barbara was predeceased by her very dear mother-in-law Emmeline Scott, her siblings Thelma Marshall, Ruth Dulac, Flora Nicoletti, Irene Jones, Fredricka Read, Francelia Grippo, Marshall Jones, Bernard Jones, and Clarence Jones. Barbara’s wishes were to have a private burial and a service to celebrate her life with daisies, which were her favorite flower. All those that will be invited will be asked to wear bright colors. Due to the COVID restrictions, these will take place in the spring.
