Obituary for Teresa Troche (Algarin)

Teresa (Algarin) Troche, 91, of Bristol, widow of Joaquin Troche, passed away on January 15, 2021 at the Pines at Bristol Center. Born on October 2, 1929 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Jesus and Laura (Gonzalez) Algarin. Teresa had worked for the former O.Z. Gedney in Terryville, CT for many years before her retirement. She was a former member of the Seven Stars of Jacob. Teresa was a great cook and loved to feed her family. She enjoyed gardening, watching the UCONN’s men’s and women’s basketball teams and thoroughly enjoyed watching WWE wrestling. She took pleasure in helping others that were less fortunate than she and donated regularly to the Shriner’s Hospital and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren were very special to her, she loved them very much. Teresa is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Carlos, Jr. and Dolores Cruz of Belleville, NJ; two daughters and sons-in-law Nilsa and Mario Rivera and Yolanda and Lorenzo Brown, Sr., all of Bristol, CT; her brother Fidencio Algarin of Puerto Rico; two sisters Gloria Reyes of Newark, NJ, and Rosa Comacho of Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren Isha Cruz, Juan Carlos Cruz, Ronald C. Davis, Keisha Paul, Miguel Anthony Cruz, Lorenzo F. Brown, Jr., Mario E. Rivera, and Malcolm J. Brown; two step granddaughters Christina and Natasha Martinez; thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Teresa was predeceased by her brothers Bartolome and René Algarin and her sisters Esther and Ermina Algarin. A funeral will be held Friday, January 22, at 12pm at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in Forestville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 11am-12pm at the funeral home. For those that will be attending the services, face coverings will be required and social distancing is recommended.
