On the morning of December 24, 2020 Joyce Newcomb Weed, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home with her husband of 69 years, P. Everett Weed by her side. Joyce was born on March 19, 1930 in Pownal, Maine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Alverna (Arris) Newcomb, a sister Janet Newcomb Hamlin and son Jeffrey Weed. Devoting her life to her husband, she was a true, life partner, working with him in all his business ventures including BW Manufacturing Co, Farmington Place and Hickory Hill B & B. Her family, especially her grandchildren, brought her great joy. She took pleasure in spoiling them and developed special relationships with all of them. She will be sorely missed. She was the most welcoming host and loved to entertain opening her home for family, Bridge Club, parties for the Rotary Club and fundraisers for Bristol Hospital. Her warm smile and contagious laugh made everyone feel at home. Christmas Eve was her favorite holiday which she enjoyed creating happy memories for her family. We will cherish those memories and fondly remember her every Christmas Eve. Her shining example of unconditional love, hard work and the importance of family was her gift to all. She is survived her husband P. Everett Weed, her children, a son Gary Weed and wife Katherine of Kennybunkport, ME, a daughter Karen Weed Fiorini of Bristol, and a daughter in law Lisa Weed of Terryville; her 10 grandchildren Andrew Weed, Jessica Kovack, Laura Cole, Caroline Bergen, Josh Fiorini, Mike Fiorini, Jenn Fiorini, Jonathan Hudson, Alethea Therrien and Tyler Weed and 13 great-grandchildren. Due to covid restrictions, her funeral will be held in the spring at a time to be announced. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at Forestville Cemetery, Forestville, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Main Street Community Foundation, 120 Halcyon Dr., Bristol, CT 06010.

I will always be grateful to Joyce for opening her heart and home to us as we began the Main Street Community Foundation. By generously hosting a reception for individuals who were supporting the Foundation, she and he husband, Everett, helped our communities to understand what we were trying to accomplish. Her willingness to step forward in this way, along with the leadership of her son, Gary, lighted a path for so many others to follow. Thank you, Joyce, and safe travels. Cheryl Dumont-Smith

We were very saddened to learn of Joyce's passing. Having known her for many many years, the first thought that came to mind whenever her name was mentioned or you were in her company was "that is one of the sweetest, kindest and most unselfish women I have ever met." Her life story is a testament to this self-effacing quality.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Joyce's entire family. May the time come quickly when memories of her bring more smiles than tears. Pat and Dana Jandreau
