David B. Ronalter, 88, of Bristol, widower of J. Ruth (Ferraro) Ronalter, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on November 13, 2020. Born on March 10, 1932 in Bristol, CT, he was a son of the late John E. Ronalter, Sr. and May L. (Barry) Ronalter. David was an Army veteran serving our country while stationed in Hawaii. After his honorable service, David began his 26 year career with Pratt and Whitney, retiring in 1996. He was an avid Red Sox fan, especially enjoying trips to Boston with family. Also a favorite of his, the girls UCONN basketball team, never missing a game. And then there’s Aesir, his beloved boxer whom he taught to box and pray. Vacations were always fun with family at the Cape, one beach in particular, Truro Beach. Being the strong, silent type, Dave’s favorite quote was “’Tis better to be small and bright than to be big and cast a shadow”. David is survived by his son Daryl Ronalter of Southington, CT; his daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Louis Fioretti, Sheila and Steven Roberts, and Lori Johnson, all of Bristol, CT; his grandchildren Joel, Kyle (Jackie), Kriston, Jacob, Hailey, Nathan, Greg, and Liz and his great grandchildren Cole and Juliet. David was predeceased by his brother John “Jack” E. Ronalter, Jr. Services for David are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation by visiting

I have very fond memories of Uncle Dave at family functions. He would share a good joke with me over in the corner of a crowded room. He always made me smile, always with a little twinkle in his eye....may his memory be a blessing. My condolences to his children especially Lori who kindly looked after him after Aunt Ruth passed. I will always remember him as a kind and gentle soul.

Sheila, Steve and Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your Dad. He sounded like a great man to be around. His favorite quote is absolutely so true. Sheila, it's never easy to lose a parent or anyone you love so much. He is at peace now and with your Mom. Steve, your tribute gave me chills... sounds like you both had a special bond. May he Rest In Peace and may God bless you all.

Uncle Dave,
I will always remember the times sitting around the kitchen table with Aunt Ruth and you, and the conversations we shared. You always had an excellent sense of humor, and a smile on your face. You were quiet and kind and never had a bad word to say about anyone. I know that you now have joined my Dear Aunt Ruth in the heavenly realms, you will be missed!
Love, Paula

Dave, ( Dad ),
You were a good natured, quiet man with a big heart. A genuine good soul who I am very proud to have known and the pleasure to call you Dad.
You raised your children to be respectful and caring individuals and you did a great job. You also did a great job at being a grandfather as well. And if I feel the way I do I can only imagine how your children feel about you.
I personally will always remember the respect you showed to me when you asked me to say the grace at your table.... What an honor and a privilege that was for me. I hope you know how much I look up to you and love you. But more importantly that I showed you as you showed me.
May you always know we all love you and miss you, and thank you for all you did for us.
May God bless you as you have blessed us all, with love and respect.
