How does one properly or adequately say good bye to such a unique and amazing woman? Over 30 plus years ago I met Helen. During these years I came to love this woman deeply as if she truly was my own grandmother. She loved me back in her unique manner that only those that she "let in" can really understand. Over the decades we enjoyed countless adventures traveling around CT taking in the scenery . This time of year in particular seemed to be her favorite because it meant it was "fair season." There was not a small country fair in Connecticut that my grandmother did not attend. Her love of camping, picnics, and bird watching was contagious. She could be your most fiercely loyal friend and an admirable opponent all in one. Her life was long and at times not easy. Yet, no matter what stage of life I was in or circumstances were unfolding...my grandmother would open her door..make me a meal...listen...and then offer up her unique version of life wisdom. One of my proudest moments shared with my grandmother was the night she came to the open house to mark the grand opening of my healthcare practice. We stood side by side in my reception area and she turned to me and said, "You really did it. You said you would do this one day..you gave up so much to get here...but it seems worth it..because here we are...this is amazing." I am sad, grateful, and yet proud, of the fact that I was gifted with holding her hand one last time just before our Heavenly Father called her home. Nonne, we will all miss you terribly. You were and are loved beyond words...and will be missed beyond measure. "Kocham do nieskończoności i poza nią. Spoczywaj w pokoju Nonne" ~ Debbie
