Obituary for Thomas A. "Tommy K" Kuczmarski

Thomas A. “Tommy K” Kuczmarski, 73, of Bristol, passed away after a brief illness on Nov. 18, 2018 at Bristol Hospital. Born in Bristol, CT on Nov. 13, 1945, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Matusko) Kuczmarski. He attended South Side School and graduated from Bristol Central High in 1963. Tom was hired by Chandler Evans Corp in 1963, where he was a graduate machinist apprentice. He held positions of assembly/test supervisor, foreman, and manager, then took on the duties of overhaul manager until his retirement in 2001 after being with the company for 37 years. During this time, he loved playing softball for the CECO Braves, playing golf, and most of all, cooking for all his CECO friends. He was president of the P&W – CECO men’s/employees club for many years. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was active in the Old Newgate Coon Club where he was Entertainment Chairman and a Director for many years. Tom was a member of the Bristol Fish and Game Association, the Norfolk Historical Society, the Bristol Historical Society, and a member of the Smithsonian Society. He was a member and past president of the Meeting House Singles where he enjoyed cooking and promoting events for his friends. He especially enjoyed his trips with the club to Ocean Park, ME. He also enjoyed his camp in Island Pond, VT, and enjoyed fishing at the DEP in Old Lyme with his many friends. Tom was always there for his friends, giving most of his time helping others, trying to better their lives with his friendship and hard work. Tom is survived by his sister Gerry Kuczmarski of Torrington, CT; a niece Jody Smith and her husband Jeff Smith of New Hartford, CT; a great nephew Jeffrey Smith and his wife Jessica of Mechanicsville, VA; a great niece Jennifer Rigono and her husband Aaron of Middletown, CT, and a great-great niece and nephew Emma and Leighton Smith. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday Nov. 28 at 10:30am at St. Anthony Church, 111 School St, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning from 9-10am at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Old Newgate Coon Club, 133 Colebrook Rd, Norfolk, CT 06058.
